Over the next couple of weeks I will be experimenting with MoPho app on my Ipad and gifmelter to try to make some of my own.
What is MoPhoMoPho is a app available on apple iPhones, iPads, iPods which can be used to make moving photos which is what MoPho means.
Mo=Moving Pho=Photos The vital thing to remember save the photos to the when they are taken to the photo roll or you can't get them off. |
Here is my first attempt. |
This is after I put the GIF into gif melter
My own Moving images
Here are my favorite moving images which I've was involved in or took so far. I took these on a iPad at school they do look a bit weird but thats is what I like about them I usually find moving images pretty funny which is why I like these ones.
These are just the first lot which I took when I was in a group with Huck and Patrick.

Stop Motion & Time Lapse
Time Lapse
A time lapse is a type of photography which involves taking a lot of photos over a certain amount of time for example a day, a week or even a month and are then put together like below this text.
The main type of time lapses are:
Flowers growing
Day and night changing
Clouds moving

On the left is what is considered the first time lapse made which was made by a famous photographer called F.Percy Smith which someone has posted on to there Vimeo.
I first saw this film on a documentary called "Edwardian Insects on Film" which is a documentary about Percy Smith. |
Here is a time lapse made by my teacher in one our Photography lessons for the first hour of the lesson it was taken using a timer for the camera and was set to take pictures every ten seconds on 12 frames per second.

My Time lapses
I will be experimenting with the app Miniatures on my brothers iPad over the next couple of weeks at home.
|
My attempt. This is my first attempt with my friend patrick at a Time lapse and my first attempt in school.
Me and Patrick thought of this idea during the first hour of photography and we went on top of the link at are school and just held the iPad still for about 15 minutes. The thing which staggers me is all this was done with a iPad you look at this film you would think it was done on a Canon 550D or a digital Camera instead of a iPad. We used the app Miniatures. |
Time Lapse 09:30-17:30 from Ben Peters on Vimeo. The camera is set take a photo every minute for about 7 hours and is at 12 fps.
There was 378 photos. I would say all the movement is coming from the wind because it is just the trees and the washing line moving. |
Time Lapse the day goes by from Ben Peters on Vimeo. The iPad is set to something like 25 fps I worked it out every photos lasts 0.04 of a second so it is about 25 fps.

Time Lapse which went well. This is my favourite time lapse attempt so far at a time lapse.
The thing which went really well was the iPad remains completely still it doesn't move which is one very good thing which is why I really like this one the other thing I like about this is it was done on a iPad and the quality is really good from a iPad. The next time I attempt this I will get the pro version of miniatures so the time lapse could last all day. |
Stop Motion
Stop motion is possibly one of the most famous types of photography and filming it is basically a quicker version of a time lapse. The 2 differences in my opinion is Time lapse you wait for something to move, in Stop Motion you move something.
It is also a method of animation.
Stop motion has been made famous recently by films and TV shows like Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit, Creature Comforts and King Kong [1933] which is a mixture of live action and stop motions.

Stop Motion "Bottle"
Bottle from Kirsten Lepore on Vimeo. |
Stop MotionOn the left is one of my favorite stop motions off of Vimeo I like it because the motion contains the same or a similar idea it changes the area of where it is filmed for example first it is sand on a beach then it is snow then it is back to sand again.
One thing I have learnt from this about stop motion is in stop motion the best thing to do is be as creative as possible because in the video it shows a change of environment but the same idea that is creative. |
My attempts stop motion
On the right is my first attempt at a stop motion I do admit it is very short because there is only a couple of pictures in the stop motion so it is gonna be really quick and in the future I will have some longer stop motions.
The other problem I will address is the movement. |

Here is my second attempt at a stop motion this attempt at a stop motion came out a lot more better than the last one mainly because I used a tripod with my dads Canon camera.

Muybridgizer Tate
There is a app which I will be using to help me make some stop motions it is called Muybridgizer Tate which is designed and published by the art gallery Tate Modern basically what it is you take a stop motion and then it comes out in a top motion like what Eadward Muybridge did you have a choice of Sepia, Black & White and Cyanotype I only have Sepia at the moment.

Still LifeThis is a time lapse which I'm going to compare to London Town.
I'm going to compare these two because this is considered as a piece of art because it is in Tate Modern and London town isn't in Tate modern. The reason why this is considered as art is because it is stop motion which is completely still not even the slightest bit of movement. The way that is different is because London town changes positions but Still Life stays at the exact same position where a time lapse like "London town" changes positions like first it is on one street then on a different street. |
